Make It Easier for Your Customer to Buy From You

I received this promotional postcard in my office letter box on Monday. It was from a new boutique gift hamper start up. Beautifully designed but it contained 3 majors flaws:

1. Font and Letter Size. Maybe due to “old age” (at 32 yrs! ha), I have difficulties and feel rather frustrated reading their URL address because it is all in CAPITAL LETTER and rather long to remember. One way to improve is instead of putting WWW.THEPINKPOMEGRANDATE.COM, use this; www.ThePinkPomeGrandate.com. Easy on the eyes. You can test and try it yourself and give me your feedback.

2. No tracking mechanism. While I am glad that they use offline marketing channel to promote their online business (let’s give them a round of encouragement because they have the guts to invest and do something different for their start-up business unlike some business owners who lament about poor business and doing nothing about it). My key question is, How would you know the effectiveness of this post card unless this is the only marketing channel they used to promote the website? I doubt so. Alot of business owners do not know how to test, measure and quantify their response and result. Hence, it resulted in massive time and money wasted. One way to track is to create a code behind the URL address on the postcard such as www.ThePinkPomeGrandate.com/postcard. In this manner, you will know exactly the result that you are getting and move on from there.

3. No phone number! Hey, what if I need a special gift urgently and no access to internet at the moment when I receive the postcard? You lose a potential client in this way.

Actually, there are 2 more fatal flaws in their marketing and if you are interested to find out more, stay tune for the next writing.

    Hi everyone,

It make me feel now that it is so important to let our potential buyer to buy our uniforms and t-shirts easily. And also test and measure each of our marketing effort.

    Nice beautiful postcard but

    1. Door is closed (though “open” sign is there)
    2. Looks more like a “property for sale” ad
    3. Where are they located ? Did not seem to see any address

Just my 2 cents - actually I didn’t even notice they left out their phone numbers.

Ken, the other fatal flaw is No call-for-action or create the desire of receivers to take actions immediately, isn’t it? I can’t tahan you tell the story half-way and ask me to stay tune. However, you have successfully created a desire in us to wait for your part II.
