Can You Really Make Money by Blogging?

I started blogging officially in mid Nov 06 after an in house Internet Marketing Training session conducted by one of my good friend, Adam Wong last Oct. The sessions act as training support for My Gratitude Rock affiliates. And I remember I stood up when I saw Adam shared his google ad sense result. “Can You Really Make Money by Blogging?”, I asked innocently. He gave a short and sweet answer in a rather cool manner, “Yes as long as you have good content”.

Since then, I follow the simple steps that Adam and Charles (another nice friend who is interested in Internet Marketing too) taught: 1. How to set up a blog, 2. How to add Google AdSense onto my blog, 3. How to increase ranking, 4. Importance of having an Auto Responder etc. So what is my result so far after 3 months? See below,

Cheque

1. This is a 3 months advertising check for my blog. I am blessed and thank you Singapore Brain Development Center for having the faith and the commitment.

2. My blog’s Google AdSense revenue so far stands at US$95. It generates an average about US$1-3 daily (Based on Google terms and conditions, I cannot show you my blog revenue page)

3. So far, I have received 4 enquires regarding advertising on my blog: 1 from U.S, 3 from Singapore. Out of 4, 1 converted, 1 on waiting list (due to conflicting interest with the 1st advertiser), 1 decline, 1 no news after I revert with advertising rate

4. The blog also generated 3 corporate business leads regarding Marketing and Branding Campaign, which we sent out 2 official quotations and proposals. Each worth 5 to 6 figure sum.

5. My blog collected about 30 opt in emails and 210 subscribers to RSS feeds where they get real time update once I post. The number is increasing.

6. I have an average of 160 - 280 unique visitors daily and this number is increasing.

7. My site ranking improved from 4 million to 200,000 according to Alexis over the past 2 months

8. I have submitted about 25 articles to free article site such as Go Articles and my articles total download is 250 times.

Lastly, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to

1. Adam Wong and Charle Yang for your endless patience, guidance and compassion toward a IT idiot like me.

2. Peggy and Wendy for taking time in correcting my horrible Grammer and Vocab mistakes. My business partner cum communication director, Azhar would rolled his eyes whenever I make a post because of my language especially when Just Media conceptualized and launched Singapore nation wide campaign, “Speak Good English 2006″. But I guess, my skin is really very thick

3. My dear friend cum our Creative Head, Cynthia for the time in touching up the photos. Yes, I can be such an ass for using an axe killing a chicken but I trust no one for my “creative work” except Cynthia

4. My team in Just Media. You are a source of my inspiration and also pain (especially month end)

5. My competitors and peers in the industry that provide so many materials (the good and bad case studies). Keep them coming or else my blog will close shop

6. You, my blog readers. Have you click on those ads yet? If yes, thank you and keep doing it! If no, please start doing so because I have a 150 years old distant great grand uncle in Fuji, 7 piglets in JB and 2 stray cats at Tanjong Pagar to take care of.

Once again, thank you!

    Hey Ken,

Nice blog, you’ve got, very professional looking theme.

There are so many ways to make money from blogging, contextual advertising, your own products & services, etc. The one that works best for me is promoting affiliate products.

    Keep up the good work!

hi ken do u think i can make any profit with a free blogsopt blog? i have been researching about earning from blog for a few months and surely enough your blog was a definite read. i can see you have got your own domain name. so do you think domain name is a must for serious blog earnings or its okay if i use a free blogspot blog?
thanx once again for the info

Hi Tanvir, thank you for the comment. First, I am no Internet Master myself as I learn from others. What I gather is free blogspot do not allow you earn from Google Adsense but you could still make money thru affiliate models (selling other people products).

It really depends on your revenue model. Hope this help.

    Cheers
